Wuv... True Wuv: Catch Up Post #2

I decided to make a separate post for the reception pictures, so here they are. Again, I am still waiting on the pictures that we took before the reception, so there will be more to come.

Melissa did the cake and it was AMAZING!!!! People are still commenting on it.

Yeah. I NAILED him!!

Taking the garter off was a little tricky. I am SUPER ticklish!!!

Carson caught the garter. What a stud!!

Some Richardson family friends came and did a Polynesian wedding dance where people put money on the dancers and whatever money is there at the end the bride and groom get to keep. I'm a fan.

Wuv... True Wuv: Catch Up Post #1

So pre-wedding we had my Wilcken Family Reunion and wedding preparations that kept us way busy. A one highlight was going to 10 Wal-Marts to find enough ties for our groomsmen. There ended up being enough ties at the last Wal-Mart that if we had gone there first we would have been set... figures.
FINALLY, the day of the wedding came. It was everything I dreamed it to be. In the words of one of my close friends, "Today, one of my best friends got married to one of the greatest guys I know. And it made everyone around them feel so good inside." I'm lucky to have found the guy that is perfect for me. It's going to be a fun eternity.

Here's wedding and reception pictures. I still have a ton more pictures that I haven't gotten from 3 different photographers, but here are the favorites of what I have so far.

Everyone take a moment and look at my hair!! My sister, Emily did it. It was perfect!!! And Emily is amazing, she did it three times!!! Once to practice, once for the pictures, and once for the wedding. Oh, and did I mention that it took almost 3 HOURS to do each time, and she also a week before spent almost 2 hours coloring and cutting it. SHE IS AMAZING!!!!

A few pictures taken by Mike on the day of the wedding. The rest were taken the Monday before.

Thanks to Mike!! The pictures all look amazing!

Our First Sunday in Provo

There's A LOT of catch-up posts that will need to happen in the next little bit but I thought I would go ahead and post about our first Sunday.

Our ward is GREAT. There are a lot of very welcoming people in the ward. There are many newlywed couples which will be nice, but there's also a good fix of older families and really old... I mean... Elderly people :) It's fun. The highlight of the block was during fast and testimony meeting. A kid got up there that looked about 9-10 years old, maybe a little younger, held his hand up like President Hinckley did when he talked and bore the following testimony:

"This morning I used my dad's toothbrush and it got me thinking. Thinking about the life cycles of life. When the toothbrush is inside the mouth it is like before we are born and are inside our mom's. When the toothbrush comes out is like when we come out and are born. And when we stop using the toothbrush is when we die. I am amazed by life cycles. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen"

Needless to say, there were several snorts from people trying to keep from bursting out laughing at the kid, including Robert and me.
The rest of church was good too. Instead of Sunday School we had to go to a New Member Meeting. There were about 8 other couples that have moved into the ward in the past month or so. It's nice to know that we are not the only new ones in the ward. And Relief Society is WONDERFUL! Our president is hilarious, and she and all of her counselors went out of their way to come meet me and welcome me to the ward before I left.

After church and a nap we walked to choir practice. I love our neighborhood. We are in downtown Provo, so most houses in our neighborhood are old really cute houses. It has a very small town feel, and the weather was good so there were lots of people out and walking around the neighborhood and stopping to talk to other neighbors while they went. It's fun.

When we got back Robert and I made dinner, and I didn't mess anything up!!

Who says I can't cook?!? Thank you Chicken Helper :)

We don't have a set of pans yet so we are limited to a skillet and one medium sized pot that Robert inherited from Terrel, neither of which have lids, so when it came time to "Cover and simmer for 14 minutes" we had to get creative. We ended up using a small cookie sheet and a cutting board. Hey, it worked!

Don't let my fake smile mislead you. We both really enjoyed the meal. It was delicious!
Overall it was a great and relaxing day. Lots more fun to come :)

My Apartment

I LOVE MY APARTMENT!!!!
Robert and I spent most of the night last night organizing a bunch of the stuff I brought up here from the shower. I ended up only bringing the getting started essentials my sisters/Mom gave me (cleaning supplies, kitchen basics, canned foods, laundry hamper and garbage can, etc), our bedding stuff and bed, and some of the bathroom stuff. So basically maybe a fourth of what I got at the shower and Robert kept saying, "Wow, I wasn't expecting to get this much for the shower AND wedding combined!!" I think he is going to get a lesson on just how generous friends and family can be. I really am so blessed to be associated with so many amazing people. Even with times being so hard financially, everyone is so generous!
Anyway, the apartment is looking GREAT!! I would add pictures, but I forgot my camera, so those will have to come later ;) Happy last day of January!!! That means tomorrow is February which is the month I am getting married in!

ONLY 4 WEEKS AND 6 DAYS TO GO!!!!

I Promise...

I will we better at this blog posting thing, especially when I am up in Utah.

Anyway, the holidays were super busy for Robert and me. The Sunday before Christmas we had the cousin gift exchange with Robert's dad's side of the family and Grandma gave us all pajamas. We had Christmas Eve with my family and his mom's side of the family. Christmas morning I opened presents with my family and then headed over to his house to open presents with his family, ate breakfast with his family, watched "Holiday Inn" with his family, then headed back to my house to eat breakfast and play games with my family, then headed back to his house to get presents from his grandma, then headed back to my house for the majority of the rest of the day. The day after Christmas we had a Nertz tournament and gift exchange with our friends and Christmas with Robert's dad's side of the family. Then I had my friend shower and I went through the temple on the 27th. AMAZING!!!! To be surrounded by all of my family and friends and some of Robert's family in my first temple experience was overwhelmingly powerful. I LOVE THE TEMPLE!! I am so grateful to be a part of this gospel!! New Year's Eve we spent with friends. New Year's day we went and saw a movie with his family (Bedtime Stories - it was a good and cute movie) January 2nd we celebrated Holly King's birthday. January 3rd my best friends, Sandy Skouson and Cortney Cluff, got married. We got to attend their wedding, luncheon, and reception. Being able to be there as Cortney and Sandy were sealed for time and all eternity in the temple with Robert standing right behind me is an experience I will never forget. Turning around and seeing that he was crying more than I was was also really sweet :) After the reception we came back to my house to burn music CDs for all of my Primary, but I fell asleep, so Robert burned, labeled, and put into cases all 65 CDs and when he was done he woke me up and he had to go. He was leaving the next morning so this is the point wehad to say goodbye for 4 weeks. I bawled like a baby. But its already been 2 weeks. Just 2 weeks more and I will be going up to Utah to see him again. The that will be our last good bye for 2 more weeks and he'll be coming down for the wedding! I can't believe how soon it will be here!!!

So, those were our holidays, sorry there are no pictures.
