I Love the Mountains... Aka Date Hike
It was once again my (Heidi's) turn to choose what we were going to do for date night. I decided last week that we would go hike to the Y on Y Mountain. Then this week I got really sick, allergy sick, but when Friday came I was feeling okay so we went to hike the Y anyway. Well long story short, with a combination of me just barely feeling better and being VERY out of shape, we didn't do the whole hike. It's a switchback hike, and there are 11 switchbacks, and let's just say that I didn't make it through all 11. It's embarrassing how dead I was after the little we did and how sore I have been since. We have recommitted ourselves to getting into shape and plan on waking up early every morning to run until we are. Anyway, here's pictures from our adventure.
In other news, I still have not found a job up here, and it's gotten to the point that the job market has just died, so I can't even find hardly any places that are hiring anymore. So, Robert and I have decided that I should look into going back to school and finally finish my Associates. We've been exploring the option, and my best bet is to go to LDS Business College in Salt Lake. I'm going to meet with an advisor there this week to see if I would be able to finish my Associates within the year that we are going to be here. If not, it wouldn't be worth it to transfer the credits I have just to have to transfer them back, and if that is the case I will keep taking classes online through Mesa Community College. But it would be fun to go back to school full time again. Here's hoping!

Operation: Date Night. Mission: Beauty and the Beast
Friday night we went and saw Beauty and the Beast at the Scera Outside Theater. It was a great show. I loved the set. It was made to look like a bunch of books and with each scene change they would pull out one of the books and open it up. Very clever and creative in my opinion. The girl who played Belle was AMAZING!!! Beast wasn't the best Beast that I've seen but he was still good. It was windy which made it really cold. Luckily, we brought blankets to sit on and cover us. So it was a fun date night all around, I give it a 10. :)
Visitor and Visiting
The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy. First of all, the week after Memorial Day, my sister Aubrie came and stayed with Robert and me. We had a ton of fun!!!
One of our many adventures is that we went to see Bridal Veil Falls. It's a beautiful spot in Provo Canyon.
Ain't we precious!?!

That night we went to Chuck-A-Rama. We might have had a little too much fun :) I'm not going to lie, I'm so proud of this face. It doesn't even look like me ;)
And Aubrie and I were as cute as ever.
And honestly, what trip is complete without without making a blanket fort?

That weekend we went to Mesa for our friends', Natalie and Hunter's wedding. It was so great to see all of our friends and family. I miss them all SOOOOOOO much!!! Robert's accomplishment of the weekend is that he was able to hold each of our twin nephews without them crying. It made him so happy. One thing that's hard about having so many people that love you and you love back is that it's a lot of people that you have to miss. We'll be back in Arizona in a year and I cannot wait!

Well this weekend Robert and I went to Oak City for my family's annual Memorial Day Breakfast. It's basically a family reunion that happens every year, but we only consider it an actual reunion every other year and this was an off year. So there wasn't quite as many people as there would have been if it had been a reunion year, but there was still a bunch to say the least. Anyway, it was the first time I had been in 7 years. I was very nervous to say the least. Back in the day at this reunion I was always just super shy. So, here I was, taking my husband to meet a ton of family that he had never met before and that I hadn't seen in 7 years, so I didn't even know how many of them would remember me.
Well... I had a GRRRRRRRRREAT time!!! I finally got to know a bunch of my cousins that I never had really taken the time to talk to and get to know before. I got to spend time with some of my sisters and their families that I hadn't seen in so long. Robert got to show off his wicked awesome softball skills. We had such a great time. It's gotten to the point that some of my generation is taking over traditions that have usually been taken care by the older generation. It was so great to see that even though our family is getting older and changing, the traditions are still being carried on. TRADITION!!! The best part about this reunion is that I realized/was reminded that I have a bunch of extended family that lives here in Provo or really close to it. I don't have to feel so alone any more!! The whole weekend just made me very happy!!
On the way back to Provo we saw something AMAZING that just put the cherry on top for the weekend. We were driving on the I-15 when I look out the window and what to my wondering eyes should appear...
Yep!! It's Taylor Swift's tour bus!!! She's doing a bunch of concerts here in Utah this week. We all got very excited (Aubrie, my sister, was with us. She is staying with us this week.) Aubrie ordered Robert to catch up to the bus so that I could snap a picture with my cell phone. So, we can basically say that we saw Taylor Swift. There might have been, you know, the wall of a bus blocking our sight, but we saw her. And she was only like 10 feet away from us.

I LOVE the Gospel!!!
Friday I had to make a tough decision. I was offered a job that I just didn't feel good about. I'm also waiting to hear back from another job that I feel great about. Money is getting REALLY tight, and after 2 and a half months I am really ready to take any job. But for whatever reason I did not feel good about this job offer. They gave me a few hours to think it over. So, I had to decide, do I turn the job down and wait to hear back from the other job even though I might not get that job, or do I take the offer and the much needed paycheck that would come with it? After thinking about it for a bit I asked Robert to give me a blessing that I would have the courage to do whatever needed to be done. It was the first time Robert gave me a blessing. It gave me peace and courage, and, long story short, I turned down the job offer. It was a great blessing to be able to turn to the priesthood power that my husband holds when I need it.
Saturday, we were able to do a session at the temple. I always love going to the temple with Robert. We grow closer to each other and Christ every time we go. This time we had the special opportunity to be the witness couple. It was a very sweet experience. While we were in the session I got confirmation again that Heavenly Father would not have made us wait this long for a job that I already knew would not be the best situation for us. I don't know what we would do without the Lord's guidance in our lives, and I am thankful for things like the Priesthood and temples that help us along the way.
Today, we taught our CTR 5 class for the first time. Long story short, we aren't the Primary chorister and pianist anymore, and we aren't Valiant 10 teachers. We are CTR 5 teachers. Our kids are SOOOOOOO adorable. I love them already, and I didn't even get to go into class today. I had to help with the music. So Robert handled them without me today. Don't worry, those of you who know the new church policy, another Brother sat in with the class too. ;) Anyway, as a getting-to-know-you activity we had paper for each kid that had "(Their Name) is special because..." written on it and they colored things that made them special. Then we took pictures of all the kids and their pictures, so that we can use them to learn their names. Clever, I know. So here are our CTR 5 children minus 2 or 3 more that weren't there today.
I think that they are all precious, and I am sure there are a lot of very entertaining Sundays to come. This should be a super fun calling. And no we are not bummed about not being the music people. It is a dream that I am sure will come true eventually. At least we are still in Primary, and this is where we need to serve right now and we are excited to do so. PRIMARY ROCKS!!!

It's OFFICIAL!!!
Robert and I are officially a married and independent couple. You might ask, why did the first 2 and a half months not count?? Well, today Robert and I went and got our mail and this is what we found...
That's right. Nothing but 2 bills and some junk mail. It was momentous. I'm still basking in the light of it.

HOME
This post is by Robert by the way.
The day is Friday, April 24th -- date night. This week is Heidi's turn (Always an adventure if you ask me). Her objective: make our home more beautiful by creating/finding the word "H-O-M-E" at a crafts store. Weather was slightly sprinkly. That's not important to the story.
We decide to go to a nearby craft store called "Robert's Arts and Craft." So I decide to wear my state champ shirt that has my name on the front to see if they would give me some free stuff cuz me and the store have the same name. They didn't. While we were there we found some very nifty block letters that would've been perfect. We found the H, then the O, then the M, and then the -- oh man! No E!?!? Oh well. We kept looking. We never found a complete set. Then we decided to do the next natural thing. Watercolors!!
To keep a short story from getting any longer than I've already made it, this is what we have on one of our walls now.
So 100 points to anyone who can guess why we painted the things we did on the letters we painted them on. And 500 points to anyone who can correctly identify the primary artist (Heidi or Robert) of each letter.

The Real Story...
True: Marrying me was the best decision of Robert's life ;)
False: "Le Fancy" was actually a restaurant called Training Table that looks really old and dirty, but serves pretty good chicken sandwiches, fries, and hamburgers at a reasonable price.
True: Robert and I were crushing on each other something major when we were 16.
False: What Robert "not wanting to be prideful" actually boils down to is that when we were on our ice skating date 5 years ago, I at one point totally biffed it on the ice. Robert quickly came to my side, offered me his hand, and cheesily said "Do you trust me?" (like Aladdin) I flirtatiously got up by myself, glanced back at him with a playing-hard-to-get look and said "Nope", smiled, and skated away. I thought for sure that he would skate after me and finally grab and hold my hand for the first time. Unfortunately, my plan backfired and Robert took that as a 100% rejection and was downhearted for the rest of the night.
Other than that the story is basically accurate... sort of... plus or minus a few details... Somersaults, flips, and aerials!?! Yeah right!!!... but the rest of the story is accurate... mostly :)

2 Month Anniversary
This post is by Robert, by the way. So it was April 21st and that happens to be exactly two months from the day I made the best decision in my life. To be specific, getting married in the temple to Heidi. So we went out to dinner that night at a fancy restaurant. I'm sure it was the fanciest restaurant in all of Provo. I forget the exact name but I am pretty sure it was something French like "Le Fancy". After dinner we decided to go ice skating!
So the last time Heidi and I went ice skating together we were both 16 and I made sure I didn't show off my skills or anything cuz I was crushing on her and didn't want her to think I was prideful. This time I pulled out all the stops and completely dazzled everyone. Flips, turns, twists, and all sorts of tricks. Pretty much everyone in the rink stopped and just watched me for a while. I'm not going to lie, I was having a very good skating day. But just as I was doing a triple aerial somersault twist a young girl dropped one of her gloves and it slid out of her reach and into my path. I didn't want to ruin the little girl's glove so I changed to an inverted flip on the third twist. I had never done that before so my landing was a little off and I tripped and fell and bumped my head.
It hurt, but I shook it off. A little blood - Heidi got a little scared. So that's the story of our two-month anniversary and how I got a bump on my head.

A musical that I hadn't heard of before!!!
Shocking... I know!
It's about Cervantes/Don Quixote. Anyway, the job hunt has so far been fruitless and is getting more and more frustrating. BUT, there is this overly dramatic song (It's Don Quixote, it's supposed to be over dramatic and unrealistic) in this musical that I am adopting as my new motto.
"To dream the impossible dream,
To fight the unbeatable foe,
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go;
To right the unrightable wrong.
To love, pure and chaste, from afar,
To try, when your arms are too weary,
To reach the unreachable star!
This is my Quest to follow that star,

We finally got callings!!!!!!!!!!
We are going to be Primary teachers together!!! The member of the Bishopric said that he was pretty sure we would be teaching the Valiant 10 class. We are uber excited. We still haven't given up on the possibility of the primary chorister and pianist, but that calling won't open up for almost month. But even if we don't get that calling, I'M BACK IN PRIMARY!!!!! I'm where I belong!!!

Easter Weekend
Well, our Easter weekend started off on Friday night with Robert proving once again that he is the best husband ever!!! How did he do this you might ask? Well, I have a guilty pleasure. It's called...
HANNAH MONTANA!!! I LOVE IT!!! Anyway, her new movie came out on Friday, and it was my turn to decide what to do for date night. Therefore, we went to Hannah Montana: The Movie, and Robert didn't complain or roll his eyes once, not even when all of the 13-year-old girls squealed during the opening song or when the person selling us the tickets made fun. It was great.
Saturday we dyed our Easter eggs. Here are a few of the highlights.

Sunday was great! We were asked on Saturday to substitute as the Primary chorister and pianist, me as chorister and Robert as pianist. I can't lie, we were GREAT! I made sure I was as prepared as I could possibly be, and Robert played the fastest, most flawless "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" I have ever heard! Each of the presidency came up one at a time and asked what our names were and said how impressed they were. One, after we mentioned that we didn't have callings yet, even asked how long we were staying in the ward and said that the current chorister and pianist (who are also husband and wife) are leaving the ward in a few weeks. We are trying to not get our hopes up, especially Robert. Primary Pianist is his DREAM calling. So, we'll see.
Sunday afternoon we had an Easter Egg Hunt. I hid some in one room and Robert hid some in the other and then we raced to find them. Robert won, but I ain't down yet!! I will prevail next year!!!
So I would say that our first Easter was a success. HAPPY EASTER to EVERYONE!!

I know, I know! Our one month was almost a month ago, but better to post late than never. The day before our anniversary when I picked Robert up from school he surprised me with a bouquet of tulips.
I ended up freezing them on accident. It's a long, blonde moment story that I would rather not share.
The day of our anniversary we spent it relaxing, going to Chuck-A-Rama for lunch, and going to the temple. I LOVE the Provo Temple!!
Eventually we hope to go to all of the Utah temples with in a one day's round trip driving distance.
Anyway, as far as how married life is going, I couldn't be happier. I am with the most amazing man forever. How could I complain??? I get to be with him everyday!!! He loves me, I love him, and we get to tell each other in person EVERYDAY!!! Life could not get better :)
In other news, Robert's Super Mario Kart skills are improving.
He was so PROUD of himself. Not only because he got first, but, more importantly, Donkey Kong got second. You see, Donkey Kong and Robert have become arch enemies. But don't worry. Robert manages to be a good sport even when he loses.

Anyway, as far as how married life is going, I couldn't be happier. I am with the most amazing man forever. How could I complain??? I get to be with him everyday!!! He loves me, I love him, and we get to tell each other in person EVERYDAY!!! Life could not get better :)
In other news, Robert's Super Mario Kart skills are improving.
He was so PROUD of himself. Not only because he got first, but, more importantly, Donkey Kong got second. You see, Donkey Kong and Robert have become arch enemies. But don't worry. Robert manages to be a good sport even when he loses.
